Stanleys in the Midlands

Although we live in Cheshire now our Stanley ancestors have lived in Birmingham for the past 150 years or so. The line were predominently blacksmiths for several generations.

Before that they were in the Oxfordshire town of Chipping Norton (known locally as “Chippy”) and before that in the small Gloucestershire village of Didbrook.

Before that, back in the 17th & 18th centuries the family were in Snowshill and Chipping Campden, possibly the birthplace of the ancestors of most of the Stanleys of these parts.

There are over 20,000 names on the database but I am always looking to extend this. If you wish to share your family tree with me, this will be gratefully received. Gedcom preferred, but otherwise MS Word or any other method is fine too.

The trail goes cold in Chipping Campden, or does it? There are some interesting links between 15th century Chipping Campden and Elford in Staffordshire where Stanleys are recorded in an even earlier period. Could there be a relationship between the Stanleys in Campden and the ones of Elford?
